Cambridge Centre for Carbon Credits (4C)

The IC-VCM (Integrity Council for Voluntary Carbon Markets) was founded as an independent governance body for the voluntary carbon market, with the purpose of ensuring the voluntary carbon market accelerates a just transition to 1.5C.  Their theory of change is well aligned with the 4C model of high-integrity and evidence-based carbon credits for natural solutions.   We are also pleased to be able to host the chair of the IC-VCM, Annette Nazareth, as a visiting scholar in the Cambridge Conservation Initiative here in Cambridge for her visit to the UK through 2022.

4C are pleased to announce our participation in the initial discussions with the IC-VCM regarding the framing of the Core Carbon Principles and the Assessment Framework.  We are providing our initial methodologies for the digital assessment of additionality and permanence, specifically for deforestation avoidance schemes, in order to ensure that forest preservation remains high on the agenda for the carbon credits marketplace.

Since the consultation is currently in a closed phase, we cannot publish our comments just yet until the IC-VCM opens for public consultancy later this summer. However, please do contact us if you would like to discuss aspects of our methodologies directly.
